Not Quite There
The concept of this sneaker is great. A waterproof sneaker that you an basically submerge in the ocean and stay dry, assuming it doesn't go above your ankle and they accomplish that marvelously. If you've seen all the advertisement videos, you already know how waterproof these are. Great! But I wish they would have spent a little more investment in the aesthetic and comfort of the shoe. The overall look is great, but it looks a little clunky on the foot, especially, if you have a larger foot like myself. I wear a men's 12. But even on my wife, who wear's a modest women's size 8, it just looks big and clunky. Then the comfort. To be honest, I didn't think the comfort was that bad when I first tried them on, but as I've worn them multiple times for long periods of time, I find them completely inadequate. There is almost zero cushioning in these things. The insole is basically a flat piece of 1/4" thick foam and under it is just the sole of the shoe. To make matters slightly worse, the sole under the insole is oddly contoured to were I feel pressure points in odd places. Most notibly around the heel. It's as if they attempted to offer some sort of built in heel cup, but it's misplaced off center or something.
I highly advise against playing sports in these. I actually wore these once to play soccer a day after a 24 hour period of heavy rain. My feet were dry, but I ended up with horrible foot pain afterwards from lack of support. I might as well have played soccer in rain…
