With most shoes, you have to worry about water damage, scuff marks or difficulty keeping clean. Your new Vessis are both waterproof and super easy to clean so you don’t have to worry about that at all! Like all shoes though, Vessis benefit from regular upkeep and care. So what can you do to care for your Vessis, keeping them clean and long-lasting? While you don’t have to do anything to keep your Vessis waterproof, here are a few important tips you can use to help you take care of your shoes.
Odor Be Gone
While Vessis are made with a waterproof membrane that is more breathable than other waterproof footwear - they are not immune to causing sweaty feet, as everyone experiences them! So to avoid your shoes getting sweaty stench, here are a few tips to follow:
Wear Cotton Socks
For maximum comfort and to reduce smelly feet, wear a pair of cotton socks with your Vessis. Ankle socks and no show socks are our favorites!
Have some dryer sheets lying around? Try sticking 1-2 sheets in each shoe before going to bed. By the morning, they’ll be smelling nice and fresh! This works great for traveling too since they’re light and don’t take up much space.
Have a Second Pair
It’s fairly common for shoes to get stinky when you wear the same pair every single day. As much as you love that one pair of Vessi shoes, don’t forget to switch it up and give them a break to air out a bit. This is your permission slip to buy a second pair of Vessis just for yourself! Having two pairs will prevent them from getting that stinky shoe smell, and you get an extra pair of shoes so it’s a win-win.
Don’t Go Swimming in Your Vessis
This goes without saying, but don’t wear your Vessis for swimming. Yes, the Vessi shoe is waterproof! However, it’s only waterproof up to the ankle. If you do happen to get the inside of your shoe wet, don’t worry. Just let them air dry in a well-ventilated area for a day or two, and they’ll be ready to wear for your next adventure. Be sure to NOT dry them with direct heat such as a blow dryer, steamer, or drying machine.
On that note, Vessis are totally fine to wear around a pool area. But be careful! They’ll be fine if they get splashed, but too much chlorine and saltwater over time can compromise the waterproof components the shoes are made out of. If you do happen to get salt or chlorine water on your Vessi shoe, don’t fret! You can rinse them well when you get home with water.
For a deeper clean after muddier days, you can run them under warm water and gently scrub them with a non-solvent based detergent. They will be just fine, and it’s really easy! We recommend using a water-based soap or a clear detergent. Keep in mind that the yellow soaps can stain your white sole.
Because Vessis are super easy to clean by handwashing, we advise you not to throw your Vessis in the washing machine! Doing so can damage the shoe’s Dyma-Tex waterproof membrane which contains millions of pores that are small enough to prevent the elements from coming in but large enough to allow heat and moisture to escape. The washing machine’s harsher methods of cleaning can negatively affect the waterproof feature.
How to Prolong Your Vessi Life
Now that you’ve finally found the shoes of your dreams, you want them to last right? There are two simple ways to do this:
First, when taking off your shoes, use your hands rather than your feet. While it’s easier to fling them off your feet, that can compromise the shoe integrity and make it wear out quicker. Gently pulling them off your feet with your hands will be much better for your Vessi shoe in the long run.
Second, be mindful of the surfaces you walk on while wearing your Vessis. If you live in an area that frequently salts the roads for snow and ice, be sure to wash off your Vessi shoes often. Doing so will prevent the road salt from eroding the soles of your shoes and keep them in tip top shape.
Vessi Warranty Policy
Vessi shoes are meant to last, but we understand that sometimes things happen, and you need a backup plan. All Vessis come with a one-year warranty on any manufacturer defects.
Keep in mind that we don't cover issues caused by modifying, exposing your Vessis to harsh chemicals, or if the defect has been caused by excessive wear and tear.
That said, if you think your Vessis are acting up please don't hesitate to reach and let us know. We’re more than happy to do what we can to make things right.
