Homemade Lotion Bars for Frontline Workers
Jessica, BC
Tell us a little about yourself!
I'm an entrepreneur who makes organic, zero-waste lotion bars. I'm also a lifeguard who recently got laid off.
I care about the environment, about beauty, about taking care of ourselves in a way that also takes care of our Earth. I founded Butter Organics as a way to better nourish our skin all while taking care of our planet.
Since the pandemic hit, my farmers markets have all been cancelled and I have not been able to share my craft and offering as much as I want to. At a time when people are washing their hands and cleaning their skin more, it's also important to re-hydrate with organic, natural and nourishing products.
That's how Butter Organics and I can help.
Tell us about your #MakeWaves project.
I want to provide front line workers with my handmade, organic, and zero-waste lotion bars.
These workers are washing their hands and bodies more, and I want to provide them with nourishing lotions to replenish their skin.
Our skin is our largest organ, and our first line of defence against harmful bacteria and viruses. I deliver my lotions to hospital workers and front line workers.
Who inspired you?
Hospital workers, front-line workers and those in senior's care homes.
Everyone else who is trying to find meaning and help others during this pandemic also inspires me.
